Niamh first studied psychology in 2000 when she undertook a BA (Hons) in English and Psychology at University College Cork. She then spent a number of years working with children and young people within Educational and Language School settings in the United Kingdom.
Having specialised in working with young people experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties within a Special Educational Needs department, she returned to psychological studies and completed a conversion degree in psychology at the University of East London (UEL). She is currently enrolled on the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology programme at UEL.
Niamh has provided counselling in both charitable agencies such as the Samaritans and within the NHS. She is experienced in working with issues surrounding self esteem, depression, anxiety, and panic disorders. While her studies have focused on the Cognitive Behavioural approach, Niamh works in an integrative way as determined by each individual client’s needs.
Niamh is one of our trainee therapists and is registered with the British Psychological Society and is a member of the Division of Counselling Psychology.
Niamh works at the practice on Thursdays.
